Someone should tell this guy that he can’t get into everything until he can walk for real.
Maybe someone should also stop letting his dad dress him :) Or are polo onesies and athletic shorts an acceptable combo?
Poor Gemma…wherever she goes, there he is a moment later, wanting what she has, whacking at her toys, pulling on her ponytails, anything to get her attention and her things. His interest in anything remotely resembling a baby toy is long gone, and his favorite pastime is emptying…toy baskets, bookshelves, blocks, dishwashers, crayon boxes, puzzles, etc.
His being able to reach into the toy box brought a whole new world to empty – at least the whole top layer within reach of those adorable little dimpled hands. Cupboard locks have been reinstalled and I am readjusting to having my doors slam shut every time I pull them open an inch and forget about that little catch needing to be pushed down.
I can’t say I really blame Gemma for getting frustrated – I get a little frustrated myself when I’m working in the kitchen and he is pulling himself up with his fingernails by the sensitive skin of my calves, slamming the oven drawer into my shins, showing up inside my fridge the second I open it, pulling the sharpest knives out of the dishwasher, and opening and closing the pantry door with his body blocking entry or exit.
But we are all adjusting quickly since I’m sure it’ll only get busier from here! We just try to think of any possible distraction that might keep him busy for a minute or three.
Until he realizes there is grass to eat, throws up, and moves on to taste the dirt and flowers.
I am beginning to realize how true a line I read recently is: when you have boys you spend their lives trying to prevent them for killing themselves. I can’t even count how many times each day I pull something out of this guy’s mouth or pick him up after a crash down from a chair or coffee table whose distance he misjudged. He sometimes thinks he knows how to walk and turns away from whatever he’s holding onto so he can gracefully fall face-first into/onto the nearest hard surface.
I don’t plan to get anything done, besides keeping him alive, until he’s at least 26.
Unless he is safely strapped in somewhere, busy just oozing cuteness!

Sounds familiar! But oh how fun it is :) Aaron has mastered going down the stairs now too… So when we’re upstairs, he crawls down, then climbs back up and claps when he reaches the top. Yes, son, we’re proud of you too :) My troublemaker also has that polo onesie, but not the super stylin’ athletic shorts, unfortunately…..
Miss you all!! <3

Hahaha, I grew up in a family of 5 girls and my mom is definitely surprised by how different her grandsons are from her granddaughters! Thanks for visiting :)

LOVE it!!! He is far too CUTE… and He is a typical BOY!!! Mind you… I have 2… TOTALLY different boys… one enjoyed sitting and playing in a play pen… the other… had to climb EVERYTHING!!! Although.. he also enjoyed it in the play pen… only cuz he had no other choice!!!(I refer them often to sanity pens!!) Mind you… each of my girls are different as well… I have one girl who sounds exactly like Kristopher!!! But nonetheless…. I think he needs lots of cuddles! It is GREAT to see pictures of the both of them!!!

LOL at Andrea- and me too :)… but he is cute! And I do see similarities with R&D kids too, and I think you can sure tell our Luke is related too!

And I did have to chuckle at the polo onesie and shorts, and, before I read what you wrote, I was wondering whether you had put that on him or not…. :)

That picture of Kristopher in the grass is ADORABLE!!!!

Some boys do, some boys don’t. You might want a 5 point harness on your stroller though to keep him in…I have told my husband we are never taking our boys to Niagara Falls…they can go and scare their girlfriend-wife. :-) Some girls are wilder than boys…Wait till you have number #3…Actually having 2 kids was the hardest in my opinion…after that…it’s more of the same. :-)

Nice pictures Anna. Everytime I see this little guy I do a double take, he looks very similar to Jacob. Isn’t that amazing? Enjoy them they grow up fast and move out, I know it doesn’t seem like it now but one day you will look back and wonder where the time went.

Aunt Joyce – I agree, and I think he looks a lot like Marcus in some pictures too – they are definitely getting more of their dad’s genes :)

Aw! He’s such a cutie! I don’t know if all boys are like that, though, and if all girls aren’t! I know my little girl certainly wasn’t quiet and timid, nor accident-free… I totally love your line about him emptying things. I can’t believe he’s at that stage already! I think Adelyn is still there… sigh. Gotta love ’em, though! :)

Gemma wasn’t quiet or timid, but she definitely had a better understanding of things like the edges of couches/beds and could focus on emptying one thing for ages. I don’t think it ever occurred to her to try to fling herself out of the crib, but he’s already stubbornly trying to clamber out even though he can barely reach the top bar. It definitely keeps us entertained! He’s already decent at climbing stairs, something Gemma didn’t master till much later – I think she was just more interested in being close to me :)
