Monday Moments: Flashback

April 20, 2015 by Anna 6 Comments

While we were moving I found an envelope of old pictures I had borrowed from my sister, who had gotten old photo albums from my Grandma of pictures from our childhood.  There were so many gems I’m so happy to have copies of, and the best part was my dad’s captions on the backs. It gives a little glimpse into him as a parent at my age, something so hard to imagine before but so much easier to picture now that Carl and I are parenting, realizing how our kids view us as so old and knowing that it will be a long time before they look back at pictures of our family in this stage and think of us as young :)

Here are a few of my favourites, along with the cryptic-but-descriptive captions my dad jotted on the back before mailing them off to his parents across the country, all they really knew of me at the time. Things haven’t changed much, really ;)

Two as-usuals: Sarah eating a cookie and Anna trying to get the food.

I’ve said it before and it holds true again – I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried.

Super cute! And yes, what a mini Sarah, Brynne is! Hard to believe you were ‘thick’ once – what an endearing term from your Dad ;)
