I’ll show you scandalous.

April 14, 2011 by Anna 8 Comments

This week I bought a box of Lucerne’s “Scandalous Cookie” ice cream.

Buying ice cream is no easy task for me.  I am not the biggest ice cream fan, but it is one of Carl’s evening staples, so I try to buy it once a month or so and when I do buy it I want it to be delicious.  I spend many minutes deliberating in front of the grocery store freezer:  fruity? chocolately? minty? chunky? peanut buttery? something Carl loves but I don’t really like?  something I love but he doesn’t really like?  If I had a cell phone I would definitely use my phone-a-friend.

Our favourite ice cream by far is President’s Choice’s “Cream First” line (seriously, Loblaws/Superstore should pay me to do their advertising, you should hear me go on about their chocolate chunks), but I only buy ice cream that is $5 or less so I have to wait for sales to get the good stuff.

Anyways, Lucerne seemed safe, even if it does come in a cardboard box which has to be the worst ice cream holder EVER.

So, Scandalous Cookie!  That sounds good, right?

This is what it looked like in my bowl.

I feel there has been a misunderstanding.

Lucerne, “scandalous” does not equal “vanilla with occasional odd-textured parts“.  Shame on you.

When I think scandalous, I think this:

Well, maybe a few other things, but this blog is PG rated :)

In terms of cookie dough ice cream when I think scandalous I at least think this:

Mmm, Ben and Jerry’s.

Either way, this was a bit of a letdown in the ice cream department, to say the least.  Time to make pies and apple crisp and skillet cookies to eat under my vanilla ice cream.  I think I will be ok with that.

I should show you my newest favourite “ice cream”. I don’t know if it can really be called that because it has no cream. Or sugar. It’s still yum though.

Ice cream is pretty serious business… I shall have to try this “Cream First” stuff you talk of.

I am not really an ice cream person…now Liberté Mediterraean Moka or Coconut or Lemon..even Walnut and Plum yogurt…That’s my kind of treat. Yum! Those are scandalous…the price and the milk fat %…but SO good.

I think the most scandalous part of this post is the fact that you don’t have a cell phone!
