Well, it’s been awhile. I’ve missed our Mondays! And if I don’t keep posting, how will I remember anything? The number of alarms I set for myself and notes I scatter are clear evidence I remember virtually nothing without help.
Jack has reached that super-fun age where he cannot be left alone in a room, and even when I’m in the room it is likely there will be serious injury or mess. He’s really good at getting UP, not yet so proficient at getting down.
Instead of pulling my hair out, we’re trying to get out more since, like a puppy waiting to be walked, nothing makes him happier than seeing me pull out my shoes and grab my keys. The weather has been mostly cooperative, although we have been appearing at parks in all manner of clothing combinations.
T-shirts with mittens and boots.
Bare feet and legs with toques.
Winter coats and cold heads.
We don’t even care, we are happy to be here.
We live within flat-ground 20-minute walking distance of at least 10 excellent parks, and we are thoroughly enjoying it. The boys are all happier and easier if we get outside often, and they are slowly turning my indoor-loving self into someone who might even be described as outdoorsy. Kids stretch you out of your comfort zone, that’s for sure.
Between parks, breaking up fights, breaking up overly-enthusiastic hugs, and stopping breakable things from breaking, the days fly by with very little actually seeming to get accomplished.
It’s a good thing they also share my fondness for quiet snack times :)
