Awhile back we went on an impromptu family trip to the Agrifair and had so much fun.
It was the perfect introduction to fairs for the kids, being relatively small and, when we went, not very busy, giving easy access to everything from curious llamas to stubborn donkeys, with plenty of bored 4H-ers eager to convince the kids to touch their sweet animals.
Naturally, G was most enthralled by the pigs.
And she had her very first ride experience! I never thought I would be able to justify spending $10 on a ferris wheel ride for two, but not only did we do just that, she went on 3 other rides too. It’s hard to resist the sheer joy on a little face at the sight of each new ride. I was so impressed that she was ready and eager to go on all by herself, for her very first ride! She was a little nervous at first (as was I, since the ride had no seatbelts and I was worried she’d freak out in the first few seconds and try to stand up and climb out), but it took all of a millisecond for her to decide she loved it! I certainly don’t think I was that brave at 3. Let’s be honest, I was still too chicken to go on the ferris wheel with her.
Time for some sustenance (post rides, naturally, to prevent reappearances). A rotato and hot dog on a stick!
There was music playing and this girl’s enthusiasm is contagious and convincing. Do you think I can talk him into dancing?
At which point Carl notices I am taking pictures for further evidence of his soft heart.
And they retreat to the shade to escape the paparazzi.
One more eyelash flutter and she has him teaching her to roll down the hill, inspired by all the other kids doing just that.
So I turned to more stationary subjects. Oh yeah, there’s another kid here!
Soon, sweet, patient K-fer, soon you will be big enough to join the fun. For now, keep on munching and watching, watching and munching.
We’ll be back next year.

Like the photos. You have a lovely family.
You said, “Naturally, G was most enthralled by the pigs.” Why ‘naturally’?
Keep writing.

Haha, she loves pigs…she has 3 stuffed pigs of various sizes and only that few because I constantly refuse to buy more! She got one when she was only a few months old that she immediately latched onto and the attachment has developed :)
