Yesterday marked the official last day of summer holidays, and that means today marks the official start of a new round of school for many kids, teens, and mature students such as myself.

That also includes my brother-in-law.

Which means he has removed himself, his lovely wife, and his sweet baby from my vicinity.

Which means Chelsea and I are now coordinating blog posts from a distance. Which means some days no one will post and some days we both will. We’re organized like that.

It also means no more cooking days and nights, where we pawn off the kids on our supportive husbands and focus on 10 or so new recipes for a few hours, turning Chelsea’s kitchen into a disaster zone and putting a few extra pounds on the ol’ spare tire.

In honour of this rather sad occasion, I have written a song.

To Chelsea

(To the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star“)

Chelsea, Chelsea, where are you?

Without you what will I do?

Hope these 8 months go by fast;

Hope that Brandon gets a pass.

Then you can all move back here

Life is better when you’re near.

Now your house is very small

‘Specially with your added wall.

Spiders come out every night

Brooklyn will not like the sights

Clearly you cannot stay long -

That would just be very wrong.

Have an occasion, big or small? Shout it out along with a tune and you’ll get a couple verses too :)

For the record,Chelsea is much better at this than me.  Next time maybe she will have to write her own farewell ode.
